Building financial confidence across generations in Manchester
Peak Robin began with a simple observation: despite living in one of the world's major financial centres, most people receive virtually no formal education about managing their own money. Schools teach advanced mathematics but rarely explain compound interest. Universities offer economic theory but skip practical budgeting.
This gap became apparent to our founders during their years working in Manchester's financial services sector. They encountered clients who were accomplished professionals yet struggled with basic financial planning. They met parents who wanted to teach their children about money but lacked the vocabulary and frameworks to do so effectively.
From these observations emerged a commitment to create accessible, engaging financial education that bridges theory and practice. We opened our doors with just two courses and a handful of students. Today, we offer a comprehensive curriculum serving hundreds of Manchester residents annually.
The values that shape everything we do
Financial education should be available to everyone regardless of their current knowledge level. We design our courses to welcome complete beginners whilst challenging those with experience.
Theory alone changes nothing. Every concept we teach comes with exercises, examples, and real-world applications that participants can implement immediately.
We present financial realities without sugar-coating or fear-mongering. Our instructors provide balanced perspectives that acknowledge both opportunities and risks.
Financial education is not a one-time event. We encourage ongoing engagement and offer progressive courses that build upon previous learning.
We are rooted in Manchester and committed to strengthening our local community through improved financial wellbeing across all age groups and backgrounds.
We regularly update our curriculum to reflect changing markets, regulations, and financial products. What we teach remains relevant and current.
Traditional financial education often fails because it treats money as purely mathematical. We recognise that financial decisions are deeply personal, influenced by emotions, family history, and individual circumstances.
Our courses acknowledge this complexity. We discuss not just how to budget, but why budgeting feels difficult for many people. We explore not just investment returns, but the psychological barriers that prevent people from investing.
This holistic approach produces lasting change. Participants leave not just with knowledge, but with strategies for overcoming their personal financial obstacles.
